The notion that the night only starts after complete darkness, or at the time for ‘Isha, is not correct. Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’an, “… and then complete your fast up until the night.” [al-Qur’an 2:187], and by consensus, the fast is broken at sunset (Maghrib), making sunset the time when the night begins.
In this Hadith we find mention is made of closing the doors at night and keeping the children indoors during the evening, however there is no Hadith that mentions that windows and curtains should be closed at any specific time. Nevertheless, one may close the windows and curtains at night during weather conditions (e.g. rain) or for purda purposes.
This ensures you have enough sleep, but at a cost of going to sleep during Maghrib. Edit 2: u/Fortuner4 points out that Isha must be performed before midnight, and upon further research I take it to mean the middle of the night between Isha and Fajr, and not just 12.00am.
