"Tempo hari, tarif angkutan umum sesuai dengan harga premium. Setelah beralih ke Pertalite, kita tidak melakukan penyesuaian tarif. Nah, baru kenaikan harga ini lah kita melakukan penyesuaian harga," ujar dia. Dengan adanya kenaikan harga BBM ini tentu akan menambah permasalahan yang harus dihadapi oleh para supir angkutan umum. "Sebenarnya permasalahan yang kami hadapi cukup banyak, pemerintah mengeluarkan peraturan, tetapi pemerintah tidak melakukan pengawasan terhadap peraturan tersebut, artinya kami diimpit oleh taksi online, ojek online, hingga angkutan gratis," tuturnya. "Sedangkan kebanyakan sopir angkot ini rata-rata miskin. Dengan adanya kenaikan BBM serta persaingan tersebut, membuat sopir angkot yang miskin jadi tambah miskin," lanjut Munthe. Biaya naik angkot dari Padang Bulan ke Unimed paling mahal sedangkan kalau naik ojek online bisa sampai apalagi kalau naik taksi online bisa kena ratusan ribu sekali jalan. Nah, angkot ini juga idolanya para mahasiswa, pelajar dan pekerja khususnya yang tak punya kendaraan pribadi. Angkot di Kota Medan mencapai ratusan jumlahnya, tak jarang calon penumpang bingung mau naik angkot apa ke tujuannya. Kemudian, di Medan angkot juga banyak jenisnya.
